Corrido: Oral form of communication, deeply rooted in mexican culture, perfected during the revolution (1910), when the media was co-opted by the government, as an opensource, peer to peer efficient way of disseminating news from afar, mainly great battles and heroic gestures. In recent decades, this form has been retaken to sing about famous narcotraffickers and big trafficking operations. Narcocorrido songs tell the sometimes sad, cynical and romanticed adventures of narco traffikers who take great risks to deliver drugs across the mexican/us frontera, over a polka or waltz beat in the background. In keeping with the folklore of illegality of the norteño frontera, in older narco-corridos, words for drugs and weapons were codefied –heroin is a chiva (goat), marijuana is gallo (rooster), cocaine is perico (parrot), unlike the more obvious and crude terminology of recent corridos. Corridos are usually commissioned to norteño musicians by the traffikers themselves, who like to hear songs about their exploits, beginning at 500 USD and going up.

Corrido: Forma oral de comunicación, profundamente enraizada en la cultura mexicana, perfeccionada durante la Revolución, cuando los medios de comunicación estaban controlados por el gobierno, como un eficiente recurso de código abierto y de diseminación rizomática, para contar noticias de lugares lejanos, especialmente grandes batallas y gestas heróicas. En décadas recientes, esta forma ha sido retomada para cantar acerca de narcotraficantes famosos y grandes operaciones de contrabando. Los narco-corridos cuentan las tristes, cínicas o romantizadas, aventuras de narcotraficantes que corren grandes riesgos para contrabandear drogas a traves de la frontera norte, con base rítmica de polka o vals, con florituras de acordeón, siendo portadoras del folclor de la ilegalidad en la frontera. Los narco-corridos más antiguos usaban muchas claves, sobre todo para designar las drogas y maneras de decir las cosas de un modo no abierto. Últimamente, el lenguaje usado es mucho más directo y obvio. Estas canciones son normalmente encargadas a artistas norteños por los propios narcos. Para que te hagan un narcocorrido puedes pagar hasta más de 500 dólares.
